Assessment & Reporting
Assessment at Maronite College of the Holy Family is an ongoing process in each Key Learning Area each school term.
In English and Mathematics a formal testing plan has been established from Kindergarten to Year 6 which is in line with the Primary Scope and Sequence. This plan is in place to monitor and further develop the Literacy and Numeracy needs of our students. The results of these tests combined with those obtained from the Year 3 and 5 National tests, once analysed, provide a detailed profile used to design appropriate learning programs for all students. Formal testing for all other Key Learning Areas is developed collegially by grade teaching teams in line with the Scope and Sequence.
Assessment procedures meet the criteria of the 5 point A to E reporting system for Years 1 to 6 and the 3 point reporting scale for Kindergarten.
Contact with parents is vital to fostering support for teachers in their endeavours to develop the academic needs and levels of students in their care.
Open communication with parents will provide information regarding student achievement as well as areas of need. Reporting occurs through scheduled meetings and correspondence with parents as needed, a formal parent/teacher interview in term 2, an opportunity to meet in term 4 if requested and bi-annual student reports which also include Comparative Information for each grade. The reporting process follows the plain English Commonwealth Government legislation introduced in 2005.
