Students are introduced to the various key learning areas through foundation subjects during Year 8. After Year 8, students have the responsibility of selecting aspects of their own course, choosing subjects which suit their particular needs. Therefore, the Stage 4 program is important in setting the standards for students to effectively make their elective choices for the year ahead.
Year 8 is also important as it provides students with the opportunity to challenge themselves in a different environment. This is achieved through the Year 8 Camp which takes place at Castle Mountain, Wisemans Ferry. Students really thrive during this time, pushing and challenging themselves in canoeing, abseiling, archery, bushwalking and camping. Students also experience enhanced self-esteem and confidence, improved communication skills and a greater sense of community with peers and teachers.
